Programming is about the most exciting thing to learn. Beside the incredible esthetic of this art it also gives you
a feeling of power which sometimes is more real than you might think.
Need an example?
In 1998, the not even 18 year old Shawn Fanning wrote his first program; a small application based on rather old p2p technology,
aimed to locate and swap mp3 files on the internet more easily. With this program, he changed the way we look at music forever
and scared the seemingly mighty music industry.
In other fields p2p can be a quite powerful tool too. Uncensorable publishing in dictatorships can be achieved, to name just one more example.
For Empolis/BMG, I worked in 2004-2007 on the whitelabel platform GNAB for music and video downloads. My part was to design and refine the p2p algorithm
of that system.
